Position: Junior Software Engineer, Intelligence & Operations (Python)
Description:
As a Junior Software Engineer, Intelligence & Operations at Torch.AI, you will be at the forefront of building software that scales within and across Torch.AI’s platform capabilities. Your software will be deployed across a variety of operational and R&D efforts for U.S. defense and national security programs.
You will work autonomously and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop, harden, and scale platform capabilities, tools, and technologies. Daily activities will vary from developing new proof of concepts, refining system performance, to working directly with customers to gather requirements.
You are expected to contribute to end-to-end data processing, orchestration, and management platforms supporting military and national security operations and help deliver enterprise-grade solutions tailored to unique technical challenges.
Requirements: B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field. 1+ years of software development experience.
Knowledge of Python programming language.
Knowledge of RESTful services, JSON parsing, and querying.
Familiarity with ETLs, APIs, and security products focusing on IAM is a plus.
Familiarity with Flask, Kubernetes, Spark, Kafka, Parquet, and Airflow is a plus.
Full understanding of SDLC.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
Secret level security clearance is encouraged (sponsorship available for qualified candidates).
Role is based in Leawood, KS, with limited travel (<10%).
Familiarity with Big Data technologies and large-scale dataset processing.
Understanding of NiFi concepts for data integration and interoperability.
Basic familiarity with AWS S3, EC2, or equivalent cloud services.
Interest in the defense or intelligence industry.
Willingness to learn new skills, collaborate closely with senior team leads, and awareness of ethical AI responsibility.
